G.O.95 Permitting CMCs to appear as Service Candidates Squashed by Hon'ble High Court on 9th April 2008.
  • G.O.95 dated 05 Feb 2008 permitted Contract Medical Consultants to appear as Service Candidates in TNPG 2008
  • The Hon'ble High Court had already stayed this G.O. on 16th Feb 2008
  • The Court has passed orders 9th April 2008 that the GO be squashed
  • Full judgement will be posted soon
A Query and TargetPG Opinion

Question : i meant this quote given in website because they(CMC) might not have been given a rank until case is over
In View Of The Pending Writ Petitions In The Honorable High Court Of Madras With Reference To Considering Those Who Have Joined As Contract Medical Consultants And Passed TNPSC , As Service Candidates (Ref.GI.No.Ms.95 Health & Family Welfare Department, Dated 05-02-2008) A Tentative General Merit List Is Being Published Without Including Them. A Revised Merit List Will Be Published Prior To Counselling, If There Is Any Change In This Stand On Receipt Of Verdict If Any, From The Honorable High Court To That Effect
I guess u didnt understand my query.I know they are not eligible in service quota but they will be eligible as private candidates. So,if they are given a rank, there can be a change in ranklist.

Answer (TargetPG Opinion):In the past Service Candidates were not permitted to appear as Private Candidates in TNPG (however they can appear as Private Candidates in AIPG / AIIMS etc if they have completed their probationary period- that is a different aspect). Of course there are few candidates who had in past written TNPG as Private Candidates, mainly to "keep in touch" with the exam writing

However, those candidates who had been "found out" had to face disciplinary proceedings

If the former CMCs are regarded as Private Candidates this year, then they cannot be paid Salary during PG, but only stipend. I don't know how many of the Former CMCs will take a seat if they are told that they will be given stipend instead of Salary. The decision here lies with the doctors and we can guess what decision they will be taking.

If they are given salary, (having a new way of considering them as private candidates for seat allotment and service candidate for relieving and pay), it will open a Pandora's box as all those who had been appointed by TNPSC 2003-2004 (conducted in Oct 2005) will appear as Private Candidates in TNPG 2009 and try their skill / luck and when selected will ask for Salary citing the example. Hence we are not sure whether this decision will be taken by the directorates.

So keep the fingers crossed
